What's Your Favorite Place? Contest

View list of winners >>

In Fall 2005, students in grades 9 – 12 were encouraged to share their favorite place in Allegheny County in the form of a collage, painting, drawing, or photograph. Contest information was distributed to each of the 43 school districts within Allegheny County, and the City of Pittsburgh Public Schools. Approximately 95 contest submissions were received from 7 school districts.

Winners from each grade were selected by a judging panel, which included representatives from Student Voices, Community Connections, and CAPA. The entries were displayed in the lobby of the Regional Enterprise Tower, and an awards ceremony took place to congratulate the 12 winners. Representatives from Allegheny County Council, County Chief Executive Dan Onorato’s Office, and the Allegheny County Department of Economic Development were on hand to congratulate the winners.

Special recognition goes to Christopher Bahur and Ashley Kilp from Thomas Jefferson High School for their interest and input regarding youth outreach in Allegheny County. Their report “Youth Activism in Allegheny County” is currently being reviewed by the Planning Team.

Thank your to all of the teachers and school districts that participated. Congratulations to our winners!!
