Allegheny Places will address development, conservation, and economic initiatives from a regional perspective.

Inventories of demographics, economics, and land use will be the basis for physical and policy plans regarding land use, housing, infrastructure, recreation, facilities, resources, and natural systems.

The Plan will establish a county economic development strategy to help target and focus initiatives for maximum impact. A direct tie will be made between the Comprehensive Plan and the Consolidated Plan-the policy document guiding Allegheny County's use of Community Development Block Grants.

Custom products will be developed for Allegheny Places, such as a web-based clearinghouse of existing information, mapping, and plans. Land planning tools such as forecasting models for economic development, environmental evaluation, and infrastructure needs will be available. The Plan will provide examples of successful multi-municipal planning, shared services, and revenues to help foster municipal cooperation.
